Sewer line repair and replacement
When roots, cracks or a collapse keep backing up your basement, cleaning is no longer enough. We find the damaged section with a camera and fix it, with as little digging as the job allows.

- Backups that come back weeks after the line was cleaned
- Sewage smell in the basement or yard
- Gurgling drains and toilets
- Wet, sunken or extra-green patches over the sewer line outside
- A camera inspection showed roots, cracks or a sag

Repair or replace?
It depends on what the camera shows. One broken section can often be repaired on its own. A line that is cracked or full of roots along its length usually needs replacing. We show you the footage and explain the choice.
Pinpoint the problem before digging
We use a camera inspection and pinpoint locating to identify where the problem is. You can watch the inspection live, and the recorded video is emailed to you. We explain any excavation needed before you decide to proceed.
When we have to dig
When repair is needed, we excavate the damaged section, replace it, and backfill. We tell you up front what will be dug up and what the yard will look like after.
Protect the basement while you are at it
If the basement has flooded before, a sewer job is a good time to add a backwater valve. In Toronto, the City may pay part of the cost.
Financing through Financeit
Financing is available through Financeit for eligible residential projects. Ask Waterworks about the options for your job. Financing is subject to credit approval. Terms and conditions apply.
Concerned about the drain beneath your bath?
An incorrectly installed drain may need its pipework corrected. We inspect the existing setup, explain the problem and discuss the repair before work starts.
This page covers sewer line repair.
