Basement flood protection
Basements flood two ways: sewage pushing up through the floor drain, and groundwater coming in around the foundation. We work out which one your home is exposed to and plan the protection that fits.

- Your basement has flooded before
- Water or sewage came up the floor drain in a storm
- Water seeps in where the floor meets the wall
- Neighbours on your street have had basement flooding
- You are finishing the basement and want to protect it first

Find out how water gets in
We start by looking at the floor drain, the main sewer line and where your weeping tiles drain. A drain camera inspection shows the condition of the line before anything is installed.
The pieces of a flood protection plan
- [Backwater valve](/backwater-valve-installation/): stops sewage from the city sewer flowing back into your basement.
- [Sump pump](/sump-pump-installation/): moves groundwater away from the foundation.
- [Battery backup](/sump-pump-battery-backup/): keeps the sump pump running in a power cut.
- Weeping tile disconnection: sends foundation water to the sump pump instead of the sewer.
Not every home needs every piece. We explain what your home needs and why before any work starts.
Permits and inspections
Backwater valves and new sump pump installations need a plumbing permit and inspection. We take care of the permit for the work we install.
