Low water pressure
Weak water at one tap is usually a small fix. Weak water everywhere can mean a partly closed valve, old pipes or a problem with the line coming into your home. Here is how to narrow it down.

- Showers and taps are weak everywhere in the house
- Only one tap or shower is weak
- Pressure drops when another fixture is running
- Your home has old galvanized or lead pipes
- The pressure dropped suddenly

Check these first
- One tap or shower: rinse the aerator or showerhead, since mineral buildup and debris collect there
- The whole house: make sure the main shut-off valve near the water meter is fully open
- Sudden drop: ask neighbours. If they are affected too, crews may be working on the watermain
Common causes inside the home
Mineral buildup or corrosion inside old pipes narrows the path for water. Galvanized steel is a common culprit, because it corrodes from the inside where you cannot see it. Partly closed or failing valves, a faulty pressure reducing valve and undersized lines can also limit flow.
If old pipes are the cause, see pipe replacement and repiping. If your water service is lead, see lead water line replacement.
We serve homes in Etobicoke, Mississauga, North York and nearby Toronto communities.
