Frequently asked questions about plumbing and waterproofing in Mississauga

At WaterWorks, we have dealt with every plumbing and waterproofing issue imaginable. Our experience enables us to answer all your questions about your drains, faucets, pipes and more. Here are answers to some of the most frequently-asked questions:

Why is my dishwasher not draining properly?

Remember that, for many dishwasher models,  it is normal for some water to stay in the dishwasher at the end of a cycle. This keeps the heating element from burning out. However, if there is excess water in the sump, the drain could be clogged.

Why does one of my faucets leak only when another faucet is turned on?

You could likely have a loose washer in that faucet. It doesn’t leak most of the time because the pressure is enough to hold it in place. However, when another faucet is turned on, or a toilet is flushed, the pressure release just enough to raise the washer up a little, allowing some water to come through.

What needs to be waterproofed in my bathroom?

Your bathroom is the largest wet area in your home. At the very least, you need to waterproof the floor, the shower walls, any other walls up to at least 1,5m from the floor, and at least 100mm over the sinks. You may choose to go even further and waterproof the entire area.

What do I do when a pipe bursts?

First, turn off the water at the main valve to prevent any further water damage. Then turn off any electrical installations around the affected area. Assess the damage and take photographs for your insurance claim. Call a plumber to deal with the problem as soon as possible. WaterWorks Plumbing and Drains will respond top your emergency plumbing calls 24 hours a day.
