Basement bathroom plumbing
A basement bathroom depends on where your drains are. Some homes can use gravity, and others sit below the sewer line and need a pump. We look at your home first and explain what the job involves.

Licensed & insuredMetro master plumbing licence15791We can help when
- You are adding a bathroom to a finished or unfinished basement
- You have an old rough-in and want to know if it can be used
- You want to move a basement toilet, shower or sink
- You want a second bathroom elsewhere in the home
- You are finishing the basement and walls are still open

What a rough-in is
A rough-in is the stage where water supply and drain lines are laid out, before walls, floors and fixtures are finished. In a basement, it can mean opening the concrete floor to reach the drain. Getting the placement right matters, because it is hard to change afterward.
When the drain is too high
If the fixtures sit below your main drain, water cannot leave by gravity. That is when an upflush system or sewage ejector pump comes up. We check the drain depth and the path out of the home before recommending one.
Think about backups first
A new bathroom adds more for a sewer backup to damage. If your home has flooded, or the street has, ask about a backwater valve while the floor is open. A drain camera inspection can also show the condition of the line you are tying into.
Financing through Financeit
