How do you fix a leaking outdoor faucet?
A leaking outdoor faucet is often caused by a worn washer, loose packing nut, or internal freeze damage. The first step is to identify where the leak is occurring. If water is dripping from the spout when the faucet is turned off, the internal washer may be worn or the valve seat could be corroded. If water leaks from around the handle, the packing nut may need tightening or the stem may need resealing. We begin by shutting off the interior water supply, disassembling the faucet, and inspecting all components. If the leak is minor, we can replace the washer and stem seals on site. If the faucet is damaged or split due to freezing, we replace it entirely with a frost-proof model. We always test the fixture after service to confirm there are no further leaks and that the shut-off valve operates smoothly.
