What plumbing upgrades should I consider during a renovation?

A renovation is an ideal time to make strategic plumbing upgrades that improve performance, increase efficiency, and add long-term value to your home. Common upgrades include replacing old supply lines with modern materials like PEX or copper, installing high-efficiency fixtures, and adding shut-off valves for individual fixtures. It is also a good opportunity to improve drainage by upsizing pipes or adding cleanout access points. For hot water needs, consider upgrading to a tankless water heater or relocating your current unit to a more efficient location. If your home has older galvanized or polybutylene piping, we may recommend partial or full replacement while the walls are open. Smart plumbing features like leak detection sensors and pressure-regulating valves can also be integrated during a renovation with minimal extra work.
