How do you detect water leaks in foundation walls?

Water leaks in foundation walls can come from surface water intrusion, hydrostatic pressure, or poor drainage. Detecting the source accurately is the first step to resolving the issue. We begin by inspecting both the interior and exterior of the affected area. Inside, we look for water stains, peeling paint, or signs of mold that indicate ongoing moisture intrusion. We use moisture meters and thermal imaging to identify hidden leaks behind walls. If necessary, we perform controlled water tests to observe how the wall responds under pressure. In some cases, we may recommend exterior waterproofing, sump pit installation, or internal drainage systems like weeping tile. We also check your downspouts, grading, and window wells to make sure water is being directed away from your foundation. The goal is not just to stop the leak but to eliminate the cause entirely.
