How do I know if my laundry room drain is working properly?

A properly functioning laundry drain should quickly remove water without backing up, bubbling, or producing odors. If you notice slow drainage, gurgling noises, or water pooling around your laundry standpipe, those are signs that the drain may be partially clogged or improperly vented. We assess the condition of the standpipe, trap, and venting system using visual inspection and drain testing methods. If needed, we use camera equipment to check for buildup, obstructions, or incorrect pipe slopes behind the wall. Sometimes older laundry drains are undersized for modern high-efficiency washers, which discharge water at higher volumes. In those cases, we recommend upgrading the drain pipe and confirming that your system includes a properly sealed trap and an accessible cleanout. We also make sure the entire setup meets building code and is protected against potential backflow.
